Malik (Razak) Engholm Pimpong, the 17-year-old son of former Ghana Black Stars forward Razak Pimpong, continues to make waves in European youth football after scoring for FC Midtjylland U19 in their UEFA Youth League clash against FC Köln U19 on Wednesday.
Despite Midtjylland suffering a heavy 4-1 defeat, Malik delivered the Danish side’s only goal of the match. His composed finish once again showcased his attacking instincts, technical quality, and on-field maturity. Notably, Malik captains the U19 team, an impressive feat for a 17-year-old competing at this level.
This latest goal brings Malik’s tally to four goals in four UEFA Youth League matches, underlining his consistency and rising status within Midtjylland’s youth setup. Scouts and analysts across Europe have taken notice of his rapid development, describing him as one of Denmark’s most promising young forwards.
Malik signed his first professional contract with FC Midtjylland in January 2024, marking a major milestone as he follows the football path carved by his father. His progress mirrors Razak Pimpong’s youth days, building on a family football legacy that spans decades.
His father, Razak Pimpong, remains a celebrated figure in both Ghanaian and Danish football. Razak spent several successful years in Denmark with FC Midtjylland and FC Copenhagen, winning the Danish Superliga, Danish Cup, and earning recognition for his hardworking, energetic playing style. Internationally, he represented Ghana at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, 2004 Olympic Games, and the U-20 World Cup.

Today, Razak works as a coach in Denmark and raises Malik with his Danish wife, Betina Engholm. Observers often note that Malik blends the athleticism and flair of his Ghanaian roots with the discipline and structure of Danish football—an ideal combination for a modern forward.
With his pace, dribbling ability, and instinctive eye for goal, the young forward is steadily emerging as one of Denmark’s brightest youth talents. If he maintains his current trajectory, Malik could soon break into senior football and potentially draw attention from top European clubs.
For now, his performances in the UEFA Youth League continue to cement his reputation as a future star and a worthy torchbearer of the Pimpong legacy.
