New York – Ghanaian President H.E. John Dramani Mahama, also the African Union Champion for Financial Institutions, held a high-level meeting with United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres during the 80th UN General Assembly (#UNGA80) in New York.

During the discussion, Secretary-General Guterres commended President Mahama for his efforts in amplifying Africa’s voice on the global stage. He also welcomed Mahama’s leadership in advocating for reforms in international financial institutions, highlighting Ghana’s growing influence in shaping economic policies affecting the continent.
President Mahama emphasized the importance of inclusive global financial systems that empower African nations and foster sustainable development. Both leaders agreed to strengthen collaboration on initiatives promoting financial transparency, economic stability, and equitable growth across the continent.
The meeting underscores Ghana’s commitment to playing a strategic role in global economic discourse and reflects Mahama’s continued influence in advancing Africa’s interests at the United Nations.
