Veteran Ghanaian highlife musician Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has shared a deeply personal revelation about his family life, proudly stating that he is the father of 18 children with nine women. According to him, what makes this large family his greatest joy is the unity, love, and strong bond shared among all his children—despite being born to different mothers.

Speaking in a recent interview, Kaakyire said he understands that some people may judge or criticise him, but that does not take away from the blessing God has given him. He explained that he has no reason to hide his children, insisting that owning up to fatherhood is a responsibility he embraces wholeheartedly.
Kaakyire revealed that all 18 children know one another and maintain close relationships. “When you see how united they are, you would think they all come from one mother,” he said. He added that the harmony among them is what makes him most proud.
The musician, who still sounds full of energy and youthful zeal, mentioned that his youngest child is just four months old. He also hinted that he is not done yet — stating that he hopes to reach 25 children, describing it as part of his life’s dream.
He emphasised that taking care of his children remains a priority. For him, fatherhood is not about numbers alone but about connection, accessibility, and responsibility. He noted that he maintains strong communication with all his children and ensures they feel supported.
Kaakyire, known for his humour, music legacy, and outspoken personality, believes that every child is a gift from God. According to him, the most important thing is not how many children a man has but how well he handles the role of a father.
He concluded by encouraging unity in family structures, stressing that regardless of how a family is formed, harmony is what brings true joy.
