Ghanaian rapper and outgoing University of Ghana SRC President, Guru, has expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, stating that his time in student leadership has equipped him for “roles far beyond the university campus.”

In a reflection shared during his final days in office, Guru — known privately as Maradona Yeboah Adjei — noted that balancing his musical career with leadership duties was both a challenge and a blessing. “This position taught me patience, discipline, and how to understand people from diverse backgrounds. Leadership isn’t just about speaking; it’s about listening and taking action,” he said.

Guru added that his experiences dealing with students’ concerns, university policies, and campus development projects have given him a new sense of purpose that extends into national service. He hinted at future ambitions beyond music, suggesting his leadership journey may have only just begun.

Students at the University of Ghana have praised Guru for his commitment and accessibility during his tenure, describing him as “a leader who truly understood the people.” As he prepares to hand over, Guru says he remains committed to using his influence to inspire young Ghanaians to combine education, creativity, and civic responsibility.
