Ilyas Ansah — a tall and promising 19-year-old striker currently playing for 1. FC Union Berlin — is reportedly on the radar of Ghana Football Association (GFA) for a possible international switch to represent Ghana national football team at the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.

The talented forward has previously represented Germany at various youth levels but remains eligible to play for Ghana through his heritage. According to sports journalist Owuraku Ampofo, the GFA has already made initial contact with the player’s camp, signaling their interest in securing his commitment.
Ansah currently plays alongside fellow Ghanaian Derrick Kohn at Union Berlin, which could make the transition smoother if he decides to switch allegiance. The Black Stars technical team is said to be enthusiastic about the potential addition of the young striker, seeing him as a long-term asset for the national team’s attack.
The move aligns with the GFA’s broader strategy of integrating young, talented players of Ghanaian descent who have developed in top European systems to strengthen the squad for future international competitions.
No official statement has been released yet, but if successful, this could be a major boost to Ghana’s firepower ahead of the 2026 World Cup.
