The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has confirmed a tragic incident during its recruitment exercise that resulted in 28 casualties. According to an official statement, 12 individuals are currently in critical condition, 5 have been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), and 6 people have sadly been confirmed dead.

The stampede reportedly occurred early Wednesday morning when a large crowd of applicants gathered at one of the recruitment centres, leading to chaos as the gates opened. Eyewitnesses described the scene as “devastating,” with some applicants collapsing due to suffocation and excessive pushing.
Military officials say medical teams were immediately deployed to provide emergency treatment to the injured, and investigations have begun to determine the cause of the incident and prevent future occurrences.
The GAF expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and assured the public that safety measures will be reviewed before continuing the recruitment process.
