Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has expressed profound sadness over the tragic loss of six potential recruits who died during the Ghana Armed Forces recruitment exercise at the El Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.

In a statement following the heartbreaking incident, the former President extended his condolences to the bereaved families and wished the injured recruits a speedy recovery. He described the tragedy as “a national heartbreak that must never be repeated.”
“My heart goes out to the families of the young men and women who lost their lives in pursuit of service to our country,” Akufo-Addo said. “May God comfort their families, heal the injured, and strengthen all who are grieving. Ghana mourns with you.”
He further urged authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the cause of the incident and to put stronger safety measures in place during future recruitment exercises.
