Three Dutch-born players of Ghanaian descent — Rome-Jayden Owusu-Oduro, Jayden Addai, and Ernest Poku — have all received official call-ups to represent the Netherlands U21 national team for their upcoming international fixtures.

The trio, who have been closely monitored by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for potential senior team inclusion, are currently among Europe’s most promising young talents. Their consistent performances in the Eredivisie and lower Dutch divisions have caught the attention of both the Dutch KNVB and Ghanaian scouts.

Owusu-Oduro, the young goalkeeper making waves at AZ Alkmaar, has been a solid presence between the sticks; Addai, known for his attacking flair and technical brilliance, continues to impress at Jong AZ; while Poku, a dynamic winger, has drawn comparisons to Memphis Depay due to his pace and finishing ability.

This development adds a new twist to Ghana’s ongoing quest to convince diaspora-born talents to represent the Black Stars. With the Netherlands moving fast to secure these players early, the GFA may need to intensify efforts if it hopes to see them don Ghana’s colors in the future.

For now, all three are expected to join the Dutch U21 squad later this month for training and friendly matches as part of their international development program.
