A deadly collision on the Accra–Kumasi Highway has claimed two lives and left thirteen others injured, according to an official report from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS). The tragic incident occurred on December 4, 2025, along the Anyinam–Enyiresi stretch of the highway.

The Anyinam Fire Station received the distress call at 09:21 hours and immediately dispatched a rescue team, which arrived on scene at 09:36 hours. Upon arrival, GNFS personnel discovered two occupants of a Honda Pilot trapped in the mangled vehicle. The victims were extricated and rushed to the Enyiresi Government Hospital, where they were later confirmed dead.

Thirteen additional passengers—believed to be occupants of the Toyota Hiace—had already been transported to the hospital before the fire service team arrived.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the crash was caused by a wrongful overtaking attempt by the driver of the Toyota Hiace. The vehicle reportedly lost control and collided head-on with the oncoming Honda Pilot, resulting in severe damage and multiple casualties.

GNFS officers secured the area, cleared debris, and restored the smooth flow of traffic by 11:05 hours. Authorities have since launched further investigations into the incident.

The accident has renewed public concern over reckless driving and overtaking on major highways, with many calling for stricter enforcement to curb rising crashes during the festive season.
