A shocking act of violence has rocked a local community after a 16-year-old boy allegedly stabbed his 35-year-old neighbour to death in a cult-related ritual killing.

The victim, identified as Esther Ijeoma Obasi, was reportedly attacked by the teenage suspect, Chinonso Ejike, after showing him kindness earlier in the day. According to reports, the woman had served the boy food because he was hungry and his mother was not at home.

Tragically, only a few hours later, the suspect allegedly returned with a knife and attacked Esther, stabbing her eight to nine times until she collapsed. Investigators say the boy then dragged her bleeding body to a bush behind their residence and submerged it in a swamp in an attempt to hide the crime.

Following his arrest, Chinonso reportedly made a confessional statement to the police, admitting that he carried out the killing as a requirement to gain promotion to a higher rank within his cult group.

The incident has sparked widespread outrage and renewed concerns about the growing influence of cultism among minors, as well as the safety of residents in vulnerable communities.

Police authorities have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect remains in custody as legal processes continue. Community leaders and residents are calling for stronger action against cult activities and better protection for civilians.
